Firefox: Downloads, Tipps & News
The new version of Firefox now integrates a PDF reader into the browser. Although the feature was already available in version 18, this had to be activated manually through the configuration. With the internal PDF viewer Mozilla wants to make use of additional plugins from Adobe unnecessary as this as an external component.
The new Firefox has some improvements for developers, because he now has a new developer toolbar feature, located at the bottom edge of the browser. When activated, it allows the user using Shift+F2 or via the menu to access all developer tools, Firefox has to offer. In addition, a new command line is included to ensure that the individual tools can be directly controlled. Various elements such as titles or consoles can be viewed with a simple click. Furthermore, the possibilities are open, catch directly to view and inspect specific items. Thus edited CSS, adjust window in size and you can also access cookies. Even the integrated debugger and the 3D view can be controlled easily.
If you want to navigate through the Internet, of course, you require a web browser. Windows and Mac users has their own browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Safari, but they are not really convincing. For several years, therefore, a free open source browser has a consistently rising demand. The Mozilla Firefox web browser has become more popular from year to year, which is mainly due to the ease of use and of course due to the high performance rate. But there is still room for improvements, Mozilla is trying to demonstrate this with the 12th final version of Firefox, which is now available on the download servers of Mozilla.
With a little delay Firefox 11 is published in the final version now. Substantial changes in the 11th Version of the browser is the Page Inspector 3D and the new synchronization option for add-ons. The Page Inspector was already available in the previous version, Firefox 10, now this tool has gotten a 3D view and the Page Inspector 3D is now fully integrated into Firefox 11. The Page Inspector is now a serious competitor to Firebug. With Firefox Sync there was already the possibility to synchronize bookmarks, settings and the browser history on several devices. With Firefox 11 you can now synchronize add-ons, so you do not have to re-install the add-ons, if you want to install Firefox on a new device.
Now the 10th Version of the Firefox browser is available in the final version. The list of changes compared to the previous version can be quite impressive. Although the release of Firefox 9 was only a few weeks ago, in this short time Mozilla worked hard on the new Firefox 10. As has been written here at Foxload in October of last year, Mozilla has made changes in compatibility testing of add-ons. In the new version old add-ons are compatible by default and can be reused.
Apart from this important change, there were other adjustments. In future the forward button will not appear until the back button has been pressed. Also on the technical site, a lot has changed. Thus, for WebGL finally implemented the anti-aliasing, which should give browser-based applications an even higher graphic experience. Also the CSS3 property "3D Transforms" is now supported. With the "Full Screen API" developers can now build web applications that can be displayed in full screen mode.
However, there are still some unsolved problems. Thus, the new two-digit version number cause problems on a small number of websites. Likewise, Firefox will crash when you try to run the browser with a locked profile. However, the problems for most users are negligibly small. To enjoy the new Firefox 10, here is the download to start.
In early November the 8th major release of Firefox will appear. Really "major" changes are not included, but i will give an outlook on the changes that will probably be included in Firefox 8. First you need to know that the jump from version 4 to 8 was smaller than from 3.6 to 4. The need to always install the latest release, is not mandatory. Especially in recent times Firefox had problems with old add-ons. Surfing with Firefox 4 and 5 can have many supposedly "outdated" add-ons continue to use. But now the preview of Firefox 8th.
While the changes were minimal in the previous release and minor for end users, Firefox 7 will include some important changes. One of the major improvements is to affect the performance of Firefox and reduce the memory footprint of the browser significantly. In this optimized memory management of Firefox 7 the memory footprint of the browser should be reduced compared to earlier versions by up to 50 percent. This should also stabilize the browser to prevent dropouts that occurred sporadically in the past, when the system was overloaded.
In August the new version 6 of Mozilla Firefox will be released. In the current beta version you can already make a picture of what's new. First of all: For the average user, this update is not really worth to be done, because in comparison with earlier beta versions of Firefox, the changes are minimal. In the short time between new releases, this is not surprising. For the upcoming months even more sequels are planned. First, however, the focus remains on the upcoming release of Firefox 6.
Mozilla has introduced a new release policy with the release of Firefox 4. New major releases should be deployed faster in the future and so Firefox 5 is already available a few weeks after the release of the new Firefox 4. But not only the end users have their problems, also companies complain about the arrogant policies of Mozilla. But even Mozilla wants to know anything, they still believe that a user finds it great when he "should" upgrade his browser every 6 weeks with a complete new version.
